SAVE THE DATE - IPKat and Simmons & Simmons - Retromark: the conference (3 March 2022)

Retromark: the conference is back! An in-person version of Darren Meale’s trade mark updates will run on the afternoon of 3 March 2022 in association with the IPKat. The event will take place at the Moorgate offices of Simmons & Simmons from 2pm and drinks and canapes will be served in the evening. Sir Robin Jacob will lead a host of renowned speakers covering a variety of topical issues. More details and a link to tickets will arrive in the New Year!


Maastricht University – Conference and Call for Papers: Competition & IP in the Digital Markets (23 and 24 June 2022)

The University of Maastricht is currently organising a call for papers on the topic of Competition & IP in the Digital Markets for a conference that will explore the digital dynamic of competition and intellectual property law from an interdisciplinary perspective. The abstracts must be sent until 15 January 2022, while the conference will take place on 23 and 24 June 2022. More details can be found here.


American University Washington College of Law – Conference and Call for Papers: Symposium on the Right to Research in International Copyright Law (21 and 22 April 2022)

The American University Washington College of Law Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property, American University International Law Review, and the University of Amsterdam Institute for Information Law are inviting papers for a Symposium on the Right to Research in International Copyright Law on April 21-22, 2022. The conference will be in-person if the health situation allows it. To apply to attend the Symposium and present your work, attend as a commenter, or participate in a work-in-progress workshop, a form must be submitted by 21 January 2022 and the expanded draft must be sent until 14 April 2022. Bird and Bird - Hybrid Event: The Unified Patent Court - The finish line in sight? (27 January 2022)

Bird and Bird will hold on 27 January 2022 (8:30 am-2:00 pm, CET) a hybrid event either online or in-person in Paris, France regarding the Unified Patent Court and its future developments. Alexander Ramsay, Chairman of the UPC Preparatory Committee, will be the guest speaker and he will be joined by the firm’s own patent specialists from France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom for a discussion of both practical and strategic scenarios involving the matter.
