I for one remember the day when a PCT abstract of a Japanese filing was good and intelligble. This is doubly important because translations of Japanese, Chinese and Korean PCTs are slow to issue (30 months later?) and this is a headache for searchers who must rely on what are now badly worded abstracts.

On the point about patent office being clogged..., maybe I am missing something but would7ent the same number proceed to examination as before (OK ISR helps to alleviate the search load) so what is the new and improved role of PCT and WIPO ?

I suggest that, with the much trumpeted examination highway, WIPO could play a central role if it pulls its socks up, plays less politics and focusses more on production quality issues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574479.post-62610359375246806652008-09-24T13:45:00.000+01:002008-09-24T13:45:00.000+01:00It is perhaps ironic that the BBC website reports ...It is perhaps ironic that the BBC website reports today that the 'Patent system is stifling science'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7632318.stmAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
