UNION-IP celebrates 65 years with conference in Amsterdam (and IPKat readers’ discount)

65 years ago, 21 national patent attorneys founded a European association. These practitioners came from various countries and shared the ambition of strengthening cooperation within our profession. Over the years, both the scope of the association and its reach have expanded, leading to its current name: the ‘Union of European Practitioners in Intellectual Property’ (UNION-IP).

The IPKat has been informed that, to celebrate its 65th anniversary, UNION-IP will organize a special congress, which the Dutch group of UNION-IP will host.

The congress’s brochure provides an overview of both the scientific programme and the social programme. It is expected that more than 100 international participants from across Europe will join.

The congress will take place at the conference centre of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Amsterdam, which will be exclusively reserved for this event.

Programme highlights include:
  • Wednesday, 10 June: Welcome reception at the congress hotel, followed by a welcome dinner at Capital C (the former Amsterdam Diamond Exchange)
  • Thursday, 11 June: Keynote speeches by, among others, João Negrão (Executive Director, EUIPO) and Steven Rowan (Vice-President for the Patent Granting Process, EPO), as well as two plenary sessions and two parallel workshops
  • Friday, 12 June: Two parallel workshops and one plenary session
  • Friday evening, 12 June: A festive gala evening at Breakers Beach House (Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, Noordwijk)
  • A social programme for partners will be offered on all days and, on Saturday, 13 June, an excursion will be organised for all participants.

Further details about the programme can be also found at www.union-ip.events. This page will be updated regularly as soon as new speakers are announced.

The IPKat has negotiated a special fee for its readers, which the organizers explain to be as follows:

NB: The IPKat has been informed that the discounted registration fee was available for a limited period and has now come to an end. The regular registration fees will apply until 8 April 2026, after which a late registration fee will become applicable.

Prospective participants are also advised that one of the recommended hotels, CitizenM, is now fully booked. Availability at other suggested hotels remains subject to change.
