The balance between these two considerations will differ depending upon whether one espouses a high protection or low protection view of the copyright system. Whatever this balance, left behind, at least in the classroom, is the issue of distribution of content"<br /><br />A very astute observation. I've noted that in many of the debates on copyright both in and out of the classroom, the publisher/distributors are often dismissed as Big Content, parasitic corporate middlemen who provide no value and interfere with creator/producers interacting directly with their audiences and users employing and distributing copyrighted works as they see fit. If, as reports appear to suggest, Netflix is in talks to secure the right to stream the original series of House of Cards, Kevin Spacet won't be anywhere near it. If however they are in talks to secure the rights to stream the re-make of House of Cards which is currently in production then surely Netflix is in fact seeking to "become more involved in production of contents, directly or indirectly" via what amounts to a pre-sales deal for a slice of the film rights. That said, Prof Wilkof is absolutely on the money alerting everyne in the audio-visual industry about the difficulties of sustaining the current business models and attracting investment or recovering production costs in the face of predations from the likes of Google, Mr Cameron, Prof Hargreaves and digital disseminators.Harcourthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04559934150652903334noreply@blogger.com
