That would be the court of appeal, actually.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574479.post-81220190014092872212013-12-25T09:51:53.721+00:002013-12-25T09:51:53.721+00:00Not for the first time we can discern something of...Not for the first time we can discern something of a dichotomy apearing between this decision, and others such as Infopaq, and future policy. <br />On the one hand third party re-use of existing content (protected by either copyright or database right) without permission is clearly deprecated, while on the other hand, data-mining is to be facilitated, and indeed encouraged, in the new policy initiatives being put forward by the EU in the Licences for Europe Project, and especially the UK's initiative on the subject. <br />It will be interesting to see if and where a line is drawn between academic and commercial exploitation of text and date mining.Andy Jnoreply@blogger.com
