REMEMBER, REMEMBER THE 5TH OF NOVEMBER

This Friday, 5 November, PCS, the civil service union is striking. The union is calling for:

* Negotiations, not arbitrary job cuts
* No compulsory redundancies or transfers
* No compulsory extension of the pension age
* No cuts in paid sick leave
* Pay problems sorted out
* To be valued and treated with dignity and respect

This has a potential effect on the IP world since employees of both the Patent Office and the Court Service are members of the union. However, the two organisations have said that, although they will do their best to maintain normal operations, there may be some disruption to the services.

    Whatever happened to the OHIM employees' strike that we used to read about on the IPKat? No-one else reported it. Was it just a joke?

    Shame about the Patent Office people needing to strike: they are so helpful and really do provide a great service. Can't say the same for the Court Service though -- and their website's not up to much either.

All comments must be moderated by a member of the IPKat team before they appear on the blog.
