A LITTLE SUMMER FUN

A little summer fun

The IPKat has just been reminded of one of the summer's fun events. Called Extreme IP: Stretching the Boundaries, it's the Hogarth Chambers annual summer seminar. Now in its 7th year, this event takes place in the afternoon of Thursday 13 July 2006 at the Royal College of Surgeons, London.

The topics covered include
* Resale Right;
* The Scope of Copyright Protection: the Boundaries of the Ideas/Expression Dichotomy;
* Extreme Defences: Non-IP Defences to IP Actions;
* Olympic Protection and Extreme Trade Marks;
* An Inventor’s Perspective (Mandy Haberman, Inventor of The Anywayup Cup).

For further details email Susan Yacoub here or give her a tinkle on +44 20 7404 0404. The IPKat says Susan will tell you all about the distinguished cast of speakers and she might even let it slip that there are one or two strawberries and a sparkling, much-litigated alcoholic beverage that starts with the letter "C" as a special reward for anyone who stays till the end.

Merpel adds, perhaps they should be serving up the bubbly in Anywayup cups for certain members of the IP fraternity who find themselves vertically challenged after a couple of sips ...

All comments must be moderated by a member of the IPKat team before they appear on the blog. Comments will not be allowed if the contravene the IPKat policy that readers' comments should not be obscene or defamatory; they should not consist of ad hominem attacks on members of the blog team or other comment-posters and they should make a constructive contribution to the discussion of the post on which they purport to comment.

It is also the IPKat policy that comments should not be made completely anonymously, and users should use a consistent name or pseudonym (which should not itself be defamatory or obscene, or that of another real person), either in the "identity" field, or at the beginning of the comment. Current practice is to, however, allow a limited number of comments that contravene this policy, provided that the comment has a high degree of relevance and the comment chain does not become too difficult to follow.
