Return of the Baarmy Army
Right: members of the Baarmy Army, together with their backing group
The BBC informs the IPKat today of the return of the Baarmy Army, the singing sheep from Cumbria whose painfully irritant rendition of "Jingle Bells" attracted over a hundred thousand downloads last year.
Says the IPKat, is this yet another example of the recording industry exploiting the performers? Merpel agrees: what’s in it for the sheep after their performers' rights expire, she demands to know.

Prizes won by sheep are a dubious blessing. A couple of years ago a client invited me to the Smithfield Show. The prize sheep was on show but skinned and butchered as a set of joints. I am not sue whether it enjoyed the award.
