GDPR notification

This is a GDPR notification.

As you may be aware, on 25 May 2018 the EU General Data Protection Regulation EU (2016)/679 (GDPR) comes into force in all EU member states. The GDPR applies to ‘personal data’ meaning any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified by reference to an identifier. It requires that personal data be processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner, and that personal data be collected for specified and legitimate purposes.

For those who subscribe to the blog, the IPKat collects email addresses which can include personal data.

The IPKat relies on its legitimate interests to process this data so that we can keep you up to date with developments as reported on the IPKat blog. The IPKat does not make any other use of this data.

In addition some blog posts or comments may include personal data such as the names of people who wrote blogposts, spoke at events, made comments or similar. These posts are often shared on social media including the IPKat's Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.  This is explained in more detail on the IPKat's policy page.

The IPKat respects your personal data and takes care to maintain its confidentiality.  It does not share your data with third parties.

You have the right to unsubscribe from the IPKat at anytime by emailing: ipkat_readers+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com

No comments:

All comments must be moderated by a member of the IPKat team before they appear on the blog. Comments will not be allowed if the contravene the IPKat policy that readers' comments should not be obscene or defamatory; they should not consist of ad hominem attacks on members of the blog team or other comment-posters and they should make a constructive contribution to the discussion of the post on which they purport to comment.

It is also the IPKat policy that comments should not be made completely anonymously, and users should use a consistent name or pseudonym (which should not itself be defamatory or obscene, or that of another real person), either in the "identity" field, or at the beginning of the comment. Current practice is to, however, allow a limited number of comments that contravene this policy, provided that the comment has a high degree of relevance and the comment chain does not become too difficult to follow.
